SERIAN, July 9: Individually packed drugs allegedly meant for local distribution in the district were successfully confiscated by the police yesterday.
Serian police district chief DSP Aswandy Anis said following a public tip off, police raided an unnumbered house in Kampung Kakai at about 6.15pm.
“During the raid, we found a tin can wrapped with plastic at the back of the house. Upon checking the content, police discovered 12 small plastic packets and 10 tubes of straws of various sizes containing crystal substance believed to be Methamphetamine worth RM1,000 and about 7.46 grams.
“Police also arrested a 37-year-old local man who was in the house. His urine was taken for drug test, which later revealed negative of any drug substance,” Aswandy said in a statement.
During interrogation, Aswandy revealed that the suspect had admitted that the drugs were meant for distribution among addicts within the area.
The suspect is currently remanded and investigated under Section 39 (a)(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Meanwhile, Aswandy urged the community to co-operate with the police by working together to curb drug activities and abuse in Serian.
He said members of the public should contact the authorities if they suspect any drug activities and hoped that the Serian community will remain vigilant.—DayakDaily
