Police arrest Bau man, seize RM800 of suspected syabu

The plastic packets and straws containing a crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine which were found by the police during the raid.

KUCHING, June 11: A 27-year-old jobless man from Bau was arrested after police found RM800 worth of methamphetamine during a raid conducted at a house in Kampung Pelaman Ledan, this morning.

According to Bau district police chief DSP Poge Nyaon, the raid team from the Bau police headquarters led by the Inspector Mohd Said Ambotang raided the premises at 10.15am.

“Upon inspecting the house, police found one small black coloured bag without brand on a table and after checking it, a total eight small transparent plastic packets, together with two blue coloured straws containing a crystalline substance believe to be syabu (methamphetamine), with an estimated weight of 7.28 gramme,” he revealed in a statement today.

Poge disclosed the suspect was arrested under Section 39A(1) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. An initial urine test on the suspect returned positive for both amphetamine and methamphetamine.

The suspect has a previous police record.

Police will apply to remand the suspect tomorrow to facilitate investigation. — DayakDaily
