Police appeal to Voluntary Patrol Scheme members to help keep bad hats at bay

SARATOK, April 18: Close cooperation between the police and Voluntary Patrol Scheme (SRS) here is crucial to facilitate effective crime prevention efforts.

Saratok police chief Insp Amran Zawawi said the police and SRS could mount joint operations in residential areas and villages.

“With that kind of understanding, there will be increased cooperation between the police and SRS members to fight crime in the area.


“The collaboration will also raise awareness among the residents to provide vital information to the police,” Amran said at the SRS programme in conjunction with the ‘Community Strengthening and Crime Prevention Programme’ held at Kampung Melango and Kampung Gerigat here on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, National Unity and National Integration Department Unity officer Thompson Ted Son Teddy Dipin said through close ties between the police and SRS, he hoped the crime index and social problems would be less.

According to him, the SRS established in the two villages would undertake voluntary patrol activities in the fight against crime and social issues.

“The voluntary spirit must be sowed in the community for the sake of ensuring peace and security of the villagers,” he said.

Thompson also hoped all stakeholders would lend support to the SRS members as they played a very important role to assist the police. — DayakDaily
