Pol sec urges Ahmad Faizal to uphold ‘Keluarga Malaysia’ spirit instead of questioning Pandelela on harassment issue

KUCHING, Oct 27: A political secretary to the Chief Minister, Soo Li Ching is urging Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu to show his concern and uphold the “Keluarga Malaysia” (Malaysian Family) spirit rather than question Sarawak born diving champion Datuk Pandelela Rinong Pamg for bringing up an alleged sexual harassment issue after seven years.

She said Ahmad Faizal should express his appreciation towards Pandelela for being brave enough to raise up the matter in order to make things right.

Soo added politicians should also treat the sexual harassment issue as a serious social issue instead of turning it into one’s political agenda.

“Regardless of party background, we should all come together and show zero tolerance towards the act of sexual harassment,” she said in a press statement today.

Soo added that regardless of when the sexual harassment occurred, necessary measures must be suggested and proposed in amending existing practices so that similar incidents can be dealt with and minimised in accordance with the law.

She also commended Pandelela for doing the right thing by sharing her experience of sexual harassment in raising awareness and give support for other victims to come forward if they suffer similar incidents. — DayakDaily
