KUCHING, March 5: A 30-year-old man was arrested by the police in Bau for possessing 5.14 gram of Syabu, today.
Bau district police Chief DSP Poge Nyaon in a press statement today said the arrest was made by a team of Bau district police headquarter (IPD Bau) Narcotic Crimes Investigation Department (NCID) personnel at 10.45 am, after stopping a vehicle driven by the suspect in Kampung Blimbin, Krokong.
“Upon further inspection, the suspect, who was acting nervously, handed over a plastic container to the police and where five small transparent plastic packets with a crystallise substance was found inside of it, believed to be Syabu with an estimated weight of 5.14 gram),” he said.
Poge noted the drugs were seized by the police and the suspect were later brought to the NCID office for further action.
He said an initial urine test found that the suspect was found positive for Methamphetamine and Amphetamine, and a background check also revealed that the suspect has a previous criminal record.
“A remand order on the suspect will be applied tomorrow (March 6) and the case is being investigated under Section 39A (1) and Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he added. –DayakDaily.
