KUCHING, Sept 14: Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim has commended the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) for successfully staging the Malaysia Cultural Festival 2025 “Wow Malaysia” as a platform to highlight the nation’s cultural wealth and diversity.
Officiating the gala night of the festival at Taman Tasek Titiwangsa in Kuala Lumpur last night (Sept 13), Anwar said the event not only celebrates Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage but also reflects the ministry’s commitment to promoting unity, creativity and national pride.
“This festival portrays the diversity of Malaysia which is our true strength. Each community contributes its own beauty and excellence, and when we showcase them together, it becomes a source of pride for the whole nation,” he said during the event broadcast live by MOTAC in Facebook.
Anwar pointed out that the festival, featuring 68 cultural activities including Wayang Kulit Nusantara, Menora, Silat, ethnic dances, creative competitions and heritage cuisines, has impressed both Malaysians and international visitors.
“Many tourists are here tonight (Sept 13), and this is a showcase of our tolerance and appreciation for the subcultures in this country.
“We take great pride that Malaysia is able to attain peace and prosperity, while celebrating our diversity through festivals like this,” he added.
Anwar also praised MOTAC under Minister Dato Sri Tiong King Sing for achieving impressive results despite limited allocations.
“I would like to thank the ministry and Tiong for their success.
“I often do not approve much allocation for him, because I can see that with the resources given, the results can be multiplied,” Anwar remarked.
Also present were Tiong, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan, Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa, and Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dato Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar. – DayakDaily
