KUCHING, Aug 7: Padawan Municipal Council (PMC) is in the process of applying for extra government funds to carry out repair works for the blocked and damaged sewage pipes behind shophouses opposite Kota Sentosa Market.

SUPP Public Complaints Bureau chief Wilfred Yap said that additional funds were required as the repair involved major construction works.

“SUPP will continue to follow up and monitor the situation closely with PMC until the whole repair works are completed,” he gave assurance in a press release today.

Yap revealed that the sewage problem at the shophouses was among the complaints and requests for assistance to the local council reported by the business community in Kota Sentosa.

“The business community of 7th Mile had also complained about the blocked sewage pipes at the male toilets of the Kota Sentosa Market, causing great inconveniences to the customers of the market.

“The two complaints were immediately communicated to PMC and the blocked sewage pipes at the male toilets at Kota Sentosa Market have been cleared and repaired,” he explained.

Yap, who is also SUPP Kota Sentosa Branch chairman, pledged to continue serving the local community regardless of their political inclinations by resolving their predicaments especially during this period of Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“SUPP Public Complaints Bureau and Kota Sentosa Branch shall continue to be focused and fully committed to serving the rakyat,” he emphasised.
