KUCHING, Dec 12: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has confirmed the resolution of the gas distribution issue between Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) and Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (Petros).
In a news report by TVS, Anwar noted that while the matter has been resolved in principle, the government still needs to finalide several details, including legal implications.
“I have discussed this with Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, and a clear decision has been reached.
“We are currently refining the parameters and addressing the legal implications, but the key principles are already in place,” he said during the launch of the National AI Office (NAIO) at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), Kuala Lumpur today.
When asked about the timing of the announcement regarding the resolution formula, Anwar refrained from providing a specific timeline but reiterated that the matter had been settled.
He further described his recent meeting with Abang Johari to discuss the issue as very positive.
“Yes, it has been resolved. We (the government) are now working on the details. It was a highly constructive discussion,” he added.
Yesterday, Abang Johari remarked that the resolution formula would be announced by Anwar. He expressed optimism that the issue could be considered settled, pending the official announcement. — DayakDaily
