KUCHING, Nov 25: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called for a meeting with relevant authorities latest by Monday (Nov 28) to have a thorough discussion and take immediate action on reducing the cost of living.

He said although some quarters are positive with the strength of the Malaysian ringgit and Bursa Saham is confident in the government administration now, he believed that priority must be given towards the issue of the cost of living where the price of goods is suppressing people’s lives.

“Thus, I have asked for a thorough discussion and immediate action to reduce this pressure, and I will hold an urgent meeting with the relevant agencies and departments in the near future.

“And if they don’t mind, I would request them to hold a special meeting this weekend or no later than Monday even though I understand it’s (Monday) a public holiday,” he told a press conference broadcast live by Bernama TV on Facebook today.

However, he stated that he would consider postponing the meeting if the relevant authorities were reluctant to do so.

“But I trust and am familiar with the commitment of these officers; they understand that our main task is to ease the burden faced by the people, especially at the lower levels,” he added. — DayakDaily
