KUCHING, Oct 21: Prime Minister Dato Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob allocated Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants totalling RM220,000 to more than 30 organisations in Layar constituency.
According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) today, the MRP allocation was channelled through Betong MP Datuk Robert Lawson Chuat for disbursement to various associations, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and houses of worship in the constituency to assist in their activities and needs, especially in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic.
The MRP cheques were handed over by Betong assemblyman Dato Gerald Rentap Jabu, to their respective recipients who were divided into two groups during a simple ceremony held on Wednesday (Oct 20).
The first group received a total of RM120,000. Recipients comprised Chung Hua Betong Association, Chung Hua Betong School Management Board, Betong Chinese Temple Charitable Trust Board, Pertubuhan Persahabatan Muzik Betong, St. Margaret Chapel Nanga Ajau, The Archbishop of Kuching Betong, SIB Bandar Betong, Grace Assembly Betong, SIB Church Nanga Tebalau and Seventh-Day Adventist Church Betong.
The second group comprised SK Nanga Lawih Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG), SK Nanga Spak, SK St Mark, SK St Peter and St Paul, SK St Bartholomew, SK Nanga Ajau, SK Saka, SMK Ulu Layar, SMK St Augustine Betong, SMK Datuk Patinggi Kedit, Betong Vocational College and Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) Betong. They received a total of RM100,000. – DayakDaily.
