KUCHING, July 23: In a historic first, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today announced a one-off RM100 cash aid for every Malaysian citizen aged 18 and above in conjunction with the National Day celebrations on Aug 31, 2025.

The special assistance, to be channelled under the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) programme, will be digitally accessible via MyKad and can be used to purchase essential goods at over 4,100 participating outlets nationwide.

“This aid can be spent from Aug 31 until Dec 31, 2025, at major supermarkets such as Mydin, Lotus, Econsave, and 99Speedmart, as well as grocery stores in every district across the country,” Anwar said during a special announcement broadcast live on local television this morning (July 23).

He stressed that the assistance is provided on an individual basis and not per household.

“This means, for example, a household with a husband, wife and two adult children will receive a total of RM400,” he explained.

Anwar said the initiative is expected to benefit 22 million Malaysians, with a total allocation of RM2 billion.

“With this, the combined allocation for Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) and SARA increases from RM13 billion to RM15 billion in 2025.

“This also marks the first time in history that cash aid is being distributed to all adult citizens,” he added. — DayakDaily
