PM Anwar agrees to build RM500 million road from Samaram to Kapit

KAPIT, Sept 29: Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim has agreed in principle to approve the implementation of road projects to complete the road network along the Rajang River amounting to over RM500 million.

He said a substantial amount will be allocated next year to the Ministry of Works (MOW) and Public Works Department (JKR) to carry out the first phase of the project.

“I told the Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi to make the preparations this year—JKR must start the project.

“Next year, we will provide an allocation to implement the first phase and I believe by the end of next year (2025) or early 2026, the road project will be on schedule,” he said when officiating at the ‘Leaders with Community’ event at Kapit Civic Centre which was broadcast live by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) today.

Also present was Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Earlier, Nanta who is also Kapit MP, had requested Anwar and Abang Johari to consider the construction of a 72km-road project from Samaram to Kapit along the northern bank of Batang Rajang. — DayakDaily
