KUCHING, Nov 25: Plaza Merdeka has created many innovative ideas to retain their patrons and to help their tenants prosper over the years, noted Desmond Douglas Jerukan, the assistant principal secretary (Planning and Development) of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports.
“In ushering in Christmas and the festive holiday seasons, the ever popular shopping mall in the city has once again created a festive atmosphere and programme that will be memorable for people of all ages
“On top of this, Plaza Merdeka offers a lot of sales promotion and redemptions to reward their loyal customers. So, now everybody can afford something for this Christmas and festive seasons,” he said before launching the mall’s `Timeless Memories Christmas’ activities last night. He also launched Boost — the e-wallet method of payment at the main atrium.
Desmond pointed out that since Plaza Merdeka had to stay competitive, it had to embrace digital technology and be among the first to accept cashless payments such as Boost and SarawakPay.
This, he added, had made Plaza Merdeka different from other premium shopping malls in the city, with about 25 per cent of its tenants offering the Boost facility.
“As for `Timeless Memories Christmas’, this initiative creates a more festive atmosphere for shoppers to the mall, where they can reminisce their childhood memories with a playground setting,” he chuckled.
Among those present at the launching ceremony were Plaza Merdeka managing director Dato Steve Ng and his wife, Datin Anriza Cordero, Boost chief executive officer Christopher Tiffin and Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) Commissioner Dato Wee Hong Seng. — DayakDaily
