Meanwhile, Women, Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development Minister Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah said the passing of the late Salahuddin marked a sad day for Sarawak.

According to Fatimah, he is not only well respected as a former governor of Sarawak but was also loved as a person for his simplicity, friendliness, love, warmth, and care for the rakyat, which cut across race, religion, and social status.

Fatimah said her favourite memories with the late Salahuddin was his non-official birthday celebrations organised by the late Toh Puan Norkiah.

“We enjoyed joining him in enjoying his favourite food, song, and activity which is ‘memukun’ (an activity that involves singing, dancing, and rhyming verses, accompanied by drums, and sometimes violin or accordion).

“Ayahenda Tun, we the ‘rakyat’ of Sarawak will miss you. May Allah grant the late Tun Jannah. May his family be given strength in facing his demise,” she added. — DayakDaily
