PH’s Sopian questions GPS manifesto since it cannot form majority bloc in coalition govt with only 31 seats

KUCHING, Nov 8: P194 Petra Jaya candidate Sopian Julaihi (PH-PKR) has questioned the rationale behind Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) manifesto considering that the latter is only contesting in 31 seats and will not form a majority bloc in a coalition government.

He said in general, the purpose of the manifesto launched during the 15th General Election (GE15) is to be implemented at the Federal government level, which involves Parliament.

He also said the formation of a Federal government requires at least 112 parliamentary seats but pointed out that the GPS is only contesting for 31 seats.

“This raises doubts from the Pakatan Harapan (PH) side especially me, because with only 31 seats, the GPS manifesto to form a Federal government later is unfounded.

“If GPS succeeds in forming a coalition government at the Federal level, what is GPS’s guarantee that the manifesto can be implemented since GPS will not be a majority bloc in the coalition government?” he said in a statement today. — DayakDaily
