KUCHING, Jan 15: The third phase of the RM4.5 million Batu Kawa Riverbank Park project is to start construction soon.

Deputy Premier Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian witnessed the handing over of the project by the implementing agency, Padawan Municipal Council (MPP), to the successful open tender contractor in a simple ceremony held at the Rantau Panjang playground construction site today.

According to Dr Sim, who is also Batu Kawah assemblyman, the project is the last phase of the five-phase project.

ā€œIt’s not just a legacy project, but also a place for the local communities to enjoy with their families and friends,ā€ said Dr Sim in his Facebook post.

He added the project is implemented near Batu Kawa old town, with most of its residents being Chinese and the nearby villages with Malay-majority residents.
