KUCHING, April 13: Phase 1 of the Pan Borneo Highway (LPB) in Sarawak is now 94 per cent completed.

According to a news report from TV Sarawak (TVS) today, Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak Pan Borneo Highway Unit Head Awang Mohamad Fadillah Awang Redzuan said the road will also undergo an improvement process.

“The implementation will continue including opening up several new intersections.

“The project is approaching 100 per cent progress with the expectation that most sections will be fully completed by the end of this year,” he was quoted by TVS as saying in an interview during the ‘Sejahtera Asia’ programme which was broadcast today.

He said they also received many requests from local residents and elected representatives to open a new intersection along the highway.

He added the matter requires study before any decision is made.

Meanwhile, Awang Mohamad Fadillah said JKR Sarawak will upgrade the existing route into a two-way dual carriageway under the Red Line project.

He also said that the dual carriageway will match the standard design of LPB Sarawak. — DayakDaily
