KUCHING, June 8: Pakatan Harapan (PH) Sarawak will recommend to the federal government to hold this year’s national-level Malaysia Day celebration here.

Its chairman, Chong Chieng Jen, said Sabah was the host last year, and it would be Sarawak’s turn this year under the PH government.

He told a press conference here today that this was in line with the importance the PH government placed on the spirit and implementation of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

“That’s why we have the Cabinet Steering Committee on MA63, a working committee on MA63 and another six cluster groups reporting to the working committee on the implementation of MA63,” he elaborated.

Hence, PH Sarawak reached a unanimous decision that the national-level celebration of Malaysia Day to be held in Sarawak this year, said Chong.

As it is a national-level occasion that would involve the Cabinet, Chong, who is also Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, said this matter would need the nod of the federal Cabinet.

Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Sarawak chairman Baru Bian, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia state operation (War Room) director Zakaria Bujang and Amanah Sarawak chairman Mohamad Fidzuan Zaidi were present at the press conference.Ā ā€” DayakDaily
