KUCHING, Sept 20: Pakatan Harapan (PH) must exercise caution when considering whether to admit former Umno MPs into the ruling coalition as the wrong move might not sit well with PH grassroots and supporters.

This includes any form of cooperation with Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, said national PKR Women vice-chief Voon Shiak Ni.

“PH leaders must tread carefully and always keep in mind the people’s interests close to their hearts when deciding on any drastic political moves,” she said, with reference to recent developments where a few Umno lawmakers quit the party and were rumored to be interested in joining PH.

Voon, who is also a special officer of the Ministry of Housing and Local Government, said PKR grassroots were unsure of what was going to happen next; hence, she saw it fit to raise this concern as any negative impact could destory the public’s confidence in PH.

Voon highlighted that the rakyat voted for Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad and Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as they wanted to reform the country, which was badly tarnished by Umno and the Barisan Nasional (BN).

“The 14th general election (GE1)4 was a historical change. Do not forget that it was our supporters that made it happened. Their interest must come first whenever the federal government is considering every move. We are here today because of them (supporters). We owe it to them to bring about good reforms and be a people-caring government,” she said. — DayakDaily
