KUCHING, Feb 10: PETROSNiaga has activated its contingency Business Continuity Plan to ensure uninterrupted LPG supply following a landslide near the Bintulu LPG Terminal, triggered by record-breaking floods in the region.
Sarawak Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi said the landslide occurred on a hill behind the terminal operated by PUSAKA Integrated Resources Sdn Bhd (PIRSB), where a water storage tank under the Bintulu Port Authority (BPA) is also located.
PIRSB, in coordination with BPA, has begun stabilisation and recovery efforts to restore operations once the site is deemed safe.
“In response to the landslide affecting the Bintulu LPG Terminal, immediate steps were taken to ensure continuous supply of both subsidised LPG cylinders for domestic use and non-subsidised LPG cylinders for commercial consumers across Sarawak,” he said in a statement today.
To prevent supply shortages, PETROSNiaga has redirected LPG distribution from the Bintulu terminal to the Senari IOT facility in Kuching.
“We are monitoring the situation closely and will continue to provide updates as developments unfold,” Julaihi added. – DayakDaily
