Petros donates RM2 million to aid flood victims in Sarawak

KUCHING, Feb 7: Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (Petros) has contributed RM2 million to support ongoing efforts to assist residents affected by the recent floods in Sarawak.

The donation was presented by Petros chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Hamid Bugo to Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who also serves as chairman of the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

The handover ceremony, held at Wisma Bapa Malaysia today, was witnessed by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Also present were Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Sarawak Financial Secretary Dato Sri Dr Wan Lizozman Wan Omar, Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Administration) and SDMC deputy chairman Datu Buckland Bangik, Petros board member Datu Zuraimi Sabki, and Petros senior vice president of Human Capital Development, Corporate Relations, and Services, Ismail Said.

In a media statement following the handover ceremony, Hamid stated that the contribution would help provide essential aid and support to those impacted by the floods.

“We recognise the hardships faced by many communities due to the floods, and Petros remains committed to working alongside the Sarawak government and SDMC to ensure that assistance reaches those in need.

“At the same time, Petros expresses its sympathy to all affected and deeply respects the resilience of the communities in overcoming these challenges,” he said.

With this donation, he added that Petros will continue collaborating with relevant authorities to provide necessary aid, including essential supplies, equipment, and logistical support for flood victims. — DayakDaily
