Additionally, some 2,300 fishermen in both areas attended ‘Safety at Sea’ awareness talks organised by PETRONAS in collaboration with the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) Bintulu Zone.

The talks aimed to enhance maritime safety knowledge among the local fishing communities.

‘Safety at Sea’ awareness talks conducted by MMEA in Mukah on Sept 20, 2024.

The programme, held in partnership with the Fisheries Development Authority of Malaysia (LKIM), also saw donations of relief supplies to families affected by recent fires and other underprivileged groups in the area.

The handover ceremony in Pulau Bruit took place at Kampung Tekajong Community Hall yesterday (Sept 19) and was officiated by Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs and Ukas) Datuk Abdullah Saidol.

A similar event was held at the LKIM Complex in Mukah today, officiated by Tellian assemblyman Royston Valentine.

Both events were attended by PETRONAS Sarawak general manager Norazibah Md Rabu and LKIM Sarawak director Mohamad Rizal Sahari. — DayakDaily
