The competition was held in conjunction with F1’s return to Shanghai and to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the F1 Chinese Grand Prix.

Lisy Lee, Chief Representative of Petronas Beijing Representative Office, emphasised the importance of engaging young minds in sustainable development to prepare communities for a better and more promising future.

“We are passionate about driving progress towards a better future for all, and this includes preparing communities to be more adaptive, resilient, and contribute towards a healthier planet,” said Lee, highlighting the vital role of Petronas’ collaboration with Student Voices in attracting young minds to expand their understanding of sustainable development and fostering a shared sense of collective responsibility.

In the meantime, Hamilton expressed his delight at witnessing the great passion and enthusiasm the young students possessed towards sustainable living and likened it to an F1 race where teamwork plays a key role in performance.

“Seeing how well the three groups worked with and supported each other was great to see,” said Hamilton.

For the third consecutive year, Petronas has continued to support the Student Voices English Speech competition as an official partner.

The competition is an annual event jointly organised by Xinmin Evening News Community Edition, Shanghai Family, Parents and Kids, and HuMaNiuWa, having received participation from nearly 3,000 young speakers across approximately 80 schools over the course of five years. — DayakDaily
