Petronas, State government commemorate Sarawak vendors’ achievements in OGSE industry

KUCHING, Aug 22: Petronas and the Sarawak government commemorated the strategic collaboration achievements of Sarawak vendors in developing the State’s oil and gas industry today.

According to Petronas in a statement today, the event was held during the commemoration of Sarawak vendors’ participation in the OGSE (Oil and Gas Services and Equipment) industry at a local hotel in Bintulu today, witnessed by Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, Deputy Premier of Sarawak Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, Petronas chairman Tan Sri Mohd Bakke Salleh, and Petronas president and group CEO Datuk Tengku Muhammad Taufik.

During the ceremony, Petronas vice president of group procurement Freida Amat said that both the Sarawak government and Petronas are committed to nurturing a robust OGSE ecosystem.

“Continuous efforts are focused on enhancing the capability and capacity of Sarawakian companies, a progressive journey which will bring about longer-term impact,” she said.

Meanwhile, advisor for the Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment Sarawak (MINTRED) Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais urged more Sarawakian companies “to capture the opportunities in the oil and gas industry”.

He said they must be more competitive and keep up with current energy industry trends.

The event was held on the sidelines of the Sarawak-Petronas Annual Strategic Dialogue (ASD) 2022 here.

The ASD is a key platform to strengthen collaboration between Petronas and the Sarawak government in the oil and gas industry.

Through this platform, both parties are committed to enhancing a stable, conducive business and investment environment for the industry’s sustainable growth in the State.

During the ceremony, some 11 representatives of Petronas vendors from Sarawak also received tokens of appreciation as a symbolic commemoration of the success of Sarawak companies in the oil and gas industry. — DayakDaily
