KUCHING, Dec 11: Petronas’ Segar @ Mesra programme is extending to selected stations in Sibu and Kuching starting this month to benefit the B40 and M40 groups.
Minister of Domestic Trade And Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi said his ministry is working together with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industries (Mafi) and Petronas Dagangan Berhad (PDB) to provide easy access to consumers to obtain frozen and fresh agricultural products through the programme.
“The expansion of this programme to Sarawak is something that the people are very much looking forward to.
“This programme is also in line with the spirit of Keluarga Malaysia aspirations which emphasises inclusiveness in providing benefits to the people,” said Nanta in his speech during the launching ceremony of the Segar @ Mesra programme in Sibu today.
Nanta noted that KPDNHEP is also proud to have created branding with Petronas’ strategic partner called Segar @ Mesra, which will add to the existing Mesra branding.
“Most importantly, this branding is people-centric in nature that benefits consumers and producers (farmers and ranchers) as well as Petronas stations as an integrated focal point that offers fair prices,” he added.
He explained that the Segar @ Mesra programme in Sarawak will offer two product categories, ‘Ayam Permata’ produced by Syarikat Comerich Sdn Bhd and fish supplied by the Sarawak Fishermen’s Association.
“I was informed, this ‘Ayam Permata’ is produced under the initiative of the Sarawak Economy Development Corporation (SEDC) to help local farmers penetrate the halal market in the State, and these chicken products are disease-free as well as free of hormone and antibiotic injections.
“Meanwhile, the Sarawak Fishermen’s Association (Penesa) will supply various types of fresh frozen fish under the Q-Fish brand using Individual Quick Freezing (IQF) technology.
Nanta also pointed out that through these strategic initiatives and collaborations, they target the continuous marketing expansion of local products.
“Through strategic collaborations with such agencies, we can gather local products to be marketed directly at Petronas stations,” he said.
The Petronas stations involved in the Segar @ Mesra programme in Sarawak are Petronas Lanang Barat Station and Petronas Lanang 2 Station, both in Sibu, as well as Petronas Matang Jaya Station and Petronas Astana Station, both in Kuching.
Also present were KPDNHEP Sibu branch deputy secretary-general Datin Roszanina Abdul Wahab, Petronas deputy president (Marketing) Ahmad Adly Alias, and other distinguished guests. ― DayakDaily
