BINTULU, May 23: PETRONAS recently participated in the Sarawak-Level MYFutureJobs Career Carnival at the Civic Centre from May 18 to 19, aiming to attract more Sarawakian youths to the oil and gas sector.
Five PETRONAS contractors, including Velesto Energy Berhad, Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering (MMHE), Petrotechnical Inspection Sdn Bhd, Poratha Corporation, and Essem Corporation Sdn Bhd, took part in the event, which attracted over 1,000 job seekers.
In line with PETRONAS’ Group Project Delivery (GPD) and Project Delivery & Technology (PD&T) initiatives, this collaboration with Perkeso and the Sarawak Labour Department supports the Project Resource Localisation effort.
In a press release today, PETRONAS said it aligns with the Sarawak government’s drive to enhance local talent participation in the oil and gas sector, particularly in PETRONAS capital projects.
Under the carnival’s theme “Tiada Yang Terpinggir” (Leaving No One Behind), PETRONAS provided a platform for local job seekers to engage with potential employers in the industry.
This initiative fosters stronger collaboration within the ecosystem, ensuring sustained efforts towards achieving local talent development objectives and supporting the Sarawak Post-Covid Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.
Through collaboration with the Sarawak government and key industry partners, PETRONAS reaffirmed its dedication to nurturing local talent.
This initiative stands as a pivotal component of PETRONAS’ project delivery strategy, which aims to bolster Sarawak’s economic growth by cultivating a skilled and proficient workforce. — DayakDaily
