Petronas group CEO says collaboration with Sarawak will move towards hydrogen, petrochemical sustainability

KUCHING, Feb 14: Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) today has updated the Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg on the latest updates and developments with regards to the cooperation between the company and the Sarawak government in ensuring sustainable hydrogen and petrochemical industries.

According to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Petronas president and group chief executive officer Datuk Tengku Muhammad Taufik Tengku Kamadjaja Aziz has led a delegation to pay a courtesy visit to Abang Johari at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here today.

Tengku Taufik said there are greater aspirations towards building a hydrogen economy and infrastructure in line with Petronas’ aspirations.


“I would like to share that all upstream, midstream and downstream activities with the collaboration of the Sarawak government are being implemented efficiently.

“This will provide a greater basis for both parties to work together towards sustainability through new energy including hydrogen and petrochemical,” he told the press today.

He also mentioned that the new energy source of hydrogen can be developed and its economic activity can be expedited.

“We will expedite the activities related to hydrogen and new energy sources. Indeed, there are many opportunities and alhamdulillah, Sarawak has many resources and can be prospered and developed quickly,” he added. — DayakDaily
