KUCHING, Sept 17: Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) has fully settled the State Sales Tax (SST) for the year 2019 owed to the Sarawak government.
The national oil corporation in a press statement today revealed its group of companies have paid the SST for 2019.
The payment represents Petronas’ full and final settlement for the sales tax for 2019 and its commitment towards achieving commercial resolution.
The statement also revealed payment for 2020 will be made upon assessment by the Sarawak Comptroller of SST.
The national oil corporation added that it is a significant milestone following its withdrawal of the appeal against an earlier judicial review decision and also Sarawak’s withdrawal of the civil action on the SST.
“Petronas is committed to work with the Sarawak state government in strengthening the Sarawak oil and gas sector towards the creation of a stable and conducive business and investment environment for the future growth,” affirmed Petronas. — DayakDaily
