Petronas distributes RM100,000 tithe to 200 Unimas students, RM3,000 to 60 Nur Murni Care Centre orphans

KUCHING, April 24: Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas), through the Badan Kebajikan Islam Petronas (Bakip), has presented ‘wakalah zakat’ (tithe) worth RM100,000 to 200 students from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) today.

The symbolic handover from Bakip represented by Petronas Upstream Business Executive Vice President and chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Adif Zulkifli to Unimas deputy vice-chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni) Professor Ir Ts Dr Al-Khalid Othman took place during the Petronas Raya Open House at a hotel here tonight.

Meanwhile, Petronas also presented RM50 ‘duit raya’ each to 60 orphans from Nur Murni Care Centre, totalling RM3,000.

According to the programme summary, it is Petronas’ hope that the tithe and raya money can bring more cheer to all during this festive season.

Also present at the open house event were Sarawak Legislative Assembly Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, Sarawak Utility and Telecommunication Minister Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi, Petronas Group Strategic Relations and Communications vice-president Nooruddin Abdullah, and Petronas Sarawak general manager Norazibah M Rabu. — DayakDaily
