KUCHING, Nov 23: Petroleum Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) has contributed RM50,000 worth of medical equipment to the Kapit health clinic.
The contribution was presented in a symbolic handing-over ceremony held during the Discover PETRONAS @ School (Outreach) Kapit programme at Dewan Masyarakat Melayu Kapit today.
Among the equipment donated are syringe pumps, vital sign monitors, standard wheelchairs, banquet chairs, and water dispensers.
Works Minister and Kapit MP Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, who was at the event, lauded efforts by PETRONAS and the Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers of Sarawak (Sabati) for the contributions.
He said health is the most valuable asset in our lives and is the foundation of individual and community well-being.
“PETRONAS and Sabati are taking effective steps by providing quality and easily accessible health facilities to rural communities in Sarawak,” he said.
Meanwhile, Nanta expressed his gratitude to PETRONAS for organising the outreach programme that focuses on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
He said that it is vital because STEM education can contribute towards creating a STEM-literate society and providing a highly-skilled workforce that can contribute to innovations.
He added that the initiative is also in line with the Malaysian Education Blueprint 2013-2025, which emphasises STEM education at the school level through curricular and co-curricular activities. — DayakDaily
