KUCHING, June 6: PETRONAS is confident that in the very near future, Sarawak will shine bright as the beacon of new energy solutions for the world.
PETRONAS senior vice president Datuk Bacho Pilong expressed such faith in Sarawak during the launch of the Sarawak Electrolyser Assembly-Distribution Facility (SEA-DF) at Demak Laut Industrial Park by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg today.
SEA-DF is a collaborative effort between SEDC Energy (SEDCE) and Lestari H2GaaS (LHSB), a new subsidiary of PETRONAS.
āPETRONAS is proud to be an active advocate who supports Sarawak in pursuing its visionary ambition of a hydrogen economy, particularly in becoming a key hub for green hydrogen production as well as renewable energy in Southeast Asia.
āThrough the establishment of Lestari H2GaaS, we are honoured to be the technology partner supporting this pursuit with our proprietary Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) Electrolyser as well as other services.
āToday, we jointly celebrate the establishment this one-of-a-kind facility in Malaysia and Southeast Asia. This is certainly a historic milestone, which coincides with PETRONASā 50th anniversary this year,ā said Bacho.
He also disclosed that both SEDCE and PETRONAS will collaborate in providing hydrogen solutions for the worldās first hydrogen-powered smart tram, the Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) of Sarawak, following the first collaboration in supplying the PEM (proton exchange membrane) technology for hydrogen production at the nationās very first multi-fuel stations, located at Darul Hana and Batu Kawa.
He said PETRONAS and LHSB are eager to unlock more advancements towards Sarawakās green energy aspirations, through further collaborations with Sarawak and SEDC Energy.
