Petra Jaya hospital project nears completion, slated to start operations by early next year

KUCHING, Jan 25: The construction of Petra Jaya Hospital is 82 per cent complete and is expected to start operating by 2026, Deputy Minister of Health Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni says.

In a news report by TVS, the deputy minister was quoted as saying that the construction progress of the Petra Jaya Hospital is now at an encouraging rate, with completion scheduled for August this year and operations expected to begin in the first quarter of next year.

“If all things such as the weather conditions and also (the delivery process) of construction materials go smoothly, we expect around August the hospital will be fully completed.

“But it will not start operating as soon as it is completed, it will still go through some process and in the first quarter of 2026, we will be able to operate the long awaited Petra Jaya Hospital,” he was quoted as saying to members of the media after the Walkabout Programme for Clean and Smoke-Free Premises (Bebas) and War on Sugar Campaign, yesterday.

It was reported that Minister of Health Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad had previously announced that his ministry would not allow anymore delay in the project’s completion period. He hoped contractors would be able to maintain the completion target on time. – DayakDaily
