Perwaris submits proposals to CM on developing Saribas

KUCHING, July 2: Persatuan Warga Islam Saribas (Perwaris) has called on Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) to be committed in defending the state’s resources.

In a statement yesterday, Perwaris also hoped GPS would create a population with high income, build houses for the rural folk, help youths in Saribas enjoy a brighter future, upgrade all schools in Saribas, and enhance facilities in Saribas to help the Malays prosper economically.

The non-governmental organisation (NGO) also appealed to the government to recognise the Native Customary Rights (NCR) land of the Malays in Saribas.

“We hope the government can upgrade Saribas and Kalaka into districts as these two places have their own distinctive history.

“These two places also possess tourism potential and should be put on the world map,” it said in the statement.

These proposals were submitted to Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg at Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Saribas Branch’s Gawai Raya celebration at Debak yesterday.

Also present was Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas. — DayakDaily
