According to a news report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Pertama Ferroalloys unveiled its Green-Triple Nine Manganese initiative as part of its Phase Two operations.

“This initiative focuses on producing Electrolytic Manganese Metal (EMM) and High Purity Manganese Sulphate (HPMnS), globally recognised as critical mineral resources. These high-purity products, containing 99.9 per cent manganese, are essential for advanced steelmaking and electric vehicle battery production,” the company stated in a media release.

Abang Johari praised the initiative, highlighting its alignment with green technology and Sarawak’s Post-Covid Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.

Pertama Ferroalloys chairman Hirotaka Suzuki expressed the company’s aspiration to act as a bridge between Japan and Sarawak, fostering knowledge exchange and advancing economic ambitions for both regions.

Meanwhile, general manager Yuki Nakamura reaffirmed Pertama Ferroalloys’ commitment to introducing Japan’s advanced environmental management technologies to Sarawak.

METI reiterated their support for Sarawak’s industrial aspirations through technology transfer and a dedicated budget for securing critical mineral resources.
