KUCHING, Apr 24: Mulu Assemblyman Datuk Gerawat Gala is thankful that there is a Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) agent operating in Bario township that has enabled financial transactions to the local community.
As such, he said the local community do not have to go all the way to Miri or Marudi cater for their banking needs.
“So, for the financial aid from both the state and the federal government, I don’t foresee any difficulty for the local community in Bario Highland to withdraw the financial aid from the BSN agent operating there (in Bario),” Gerawat told DayakDaily today.
As for those living outside Bario, they can obtain permits to travel to Marudi Town to get their financial assistance even during MCO period.
“We have to adhere to the MCO and the people understand. But for those who need to get the financial aid, they can apply for permit to travel,” he said.
On another issue, Gerawat, who is also State Legislative Assembly (DUN) deputy Speaker said, his service centre has been able to distribute food aid to his constituents from Apr 3-9.
“We are thankful for the volunteers as well as workers from DUN Mulu service centre to distribute food items to over 4,000 households in Mulu constituency during the MCO,” he said.—DayakDaily
