‘Pemerindang Borneo’ to premiere on July 17, hopes to expand Borneo ethnic music industry

KUCHING, July 8: The first season of ‘Pemerindang Borneo’ will air on July 17.

According to TV Sarawak (TVS) in a statement today, the show’s first season will focus on Sarawakian ethnic singers such as Winnie Albert, Florence Lo, Eisner Nala, Hairee Francis, The Crew Band and many other well-known singers, including newer ones.

“The next seasons will provide opportunities for other ethnic singers throughout Borneo, including Sabah and foreign countries such as Brunei and Kalimantan Indonesia,” it said.


TVS noted the purpose of the show is also to expand the Borneo ethnic music industry.

“Through this show, ‘Pemerindang Borneo’ hopes to work with local radio stations as well as local recording companies in providing exposure to listeners,” it added.

‘Pemerindang Borneo’ is a vision and mission by Sarawak Media Group (SMG) chief executive officer Suhaimi Sulaiman and the efforts of programme producer Hidayah Hadi, together with TVS head of content and special projects Jamal Abdullah, which aims to produce more local ethnic singers and increase exposure to Borneo ethnic music.

‘Pemerindang Borneo’ will air at 8.45pm every Sunday on TVS channel 122 Astro and myFreeview. — DayakDaily
