KUCHING, Aug 20: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) President Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian says he leaves it to Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chairman Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to comment on the political merger between Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) and Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB).
Dr Sim, who also is a Deputy Premier and Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government, said he would comment about the merger between PDP and PSB another time when he is ready.
He said this when asked to comment about the two parties which are set to merge by this December, as revealed by PDP president and Federal Minister of Tourism Arts and Culture (MOTAC) Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, as reported by TVS yesterday.
“Sarawak Premier will say something. No need for me to say. If I say something, they will counter.
“If Sarawak Premier says something, they “diam-diam sahaja” (they will keep quiet),” he told reporters after presenting prizes at the Inter-Professional Golf 2023 tournament at Sarawak Golf Club today.
In the earlier news report by TVS, Tiong said both parties (PDP and PSB) would collaborate to formulate idealistic ways toward cooperation and hoped to work together.
Tiong, who is also Dudong assemblyman, advised other parties not to speculate or view of the merger of two parties negatively. ā DayakDaily
