PBM president Larry Sng appointed Malaysian Timber Industry Board chairman

KUCHING, May 5: Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) president Datuk Larry Sng Wei Shien has been appointed as the chairman of the Malaysian Timber Industry Board (MTIB).

The news on the Julau MP’s appointment was made public in a Facebook post on the party’s account yesterday, at 2.19pm.

“Congratulations to Datuk Larry Sng Wei Shien, the president of PBM, on his appointment as the chairman of MTIB,” it wrote.

According to MTIB’s website, the Board is a statutory body under the Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities (MPIC) and it is entrusted to coordinate in formulating policies and strategies to develop the country’s timber industry.

It also mentioned that the MTIB chairman and board members are appointed by the Minister of Plantation and Commodities (Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof) and the term of appointment does not exceed two years, however, is eligible for reappointment.

Sng had previously served as the chairman of Malaysian Pepper Board (MPB) and Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC). — DayakDaily
