KUCHING, April 26: PBK is urging the state government to seek 10 per cent of the comprehensive economic stimulus package funds or RM26 billion from the federal government.
Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) president Voon Lee Shan opined that the funds can be used by the state government for the purchase of personal protective equipment (PPE), food aid, wage subsidies for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) workers and ease the cost of living of Sarawakians.
“The federal government has benefited billions of ringgit every year from Sarawak’s oil and gas revenues.
“It is very fair that the federal government transfer the said funds to the state government for her disposal in this time of great need.
“If the federal government fails to transfer the above funds to the state coffer, then the federal government deserves a vote of no confidence by the Sarawak MPs,” Voon opned in a statement.
According to Voon, out of the RM26 billion, RM14 billion is to be distributed to Sarawakian voters at RM10,000 each, RM6 billion for wage subsidies for SME workers for 10 months, RM4 billion for the purchase of PPE and other medical support equipment to contain Covid-19 and RM2 billion for food aid in remote areas. — DayakDaily
