KUCHING, Aug 21: Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) today introduced Robert Saweng as its potential candidate for Bukit Goram for the upcoming Sarawak Election which must be called July next year.

According to PBK president Voon Lee Shan in a press statement, Robert hails from Kapit and holds a Diploma in Business Studies from Institute of Technology Mara (ITM).

“Besides having experience working in oil and gas industries locally and in overseas, Robert Saweng has in the past 21 years been involved in property industry and other businesses,” said Voon, who added that Robert had been trained in Bar Management by Singapore Hotel and Tourism Education Centre (Shatec) Singapore.

He said Robert has been attracted to PBK’s vision to set Sarawak free and independent.

“This is because he feels there is no justice for the loss of 850,000 barrels of crude oil everyday to Petronas by federating in Malaya, with a loss estimated at RM285 million per day.

“He also foresees the possibility of the loss of Native Customary Land (NCR) to the federal government by a stroke of a pen in Parliament,” said Voon.

Voon claimed that Robert is also very concerned with the lack of development infrastructure in rural areas, where proper roads, schools and medical facilities are lacking.

“He is concerned of the complaints made by people in Bukit Goram and Kapit areas that many projects announced in past years but found difficulties to complete by the government, “ said Voon.—DayakDaily
