Noodle stall operator claims trial to three mischief charges

KUCHING, Aug 21: A 37-year-old noodle stall operator who allegedly damaged two cars claimed trial to three charges at the Magistrate’s Court here today.

Liew Kit Phin, 37, was charged with three charges of mischief on two cars and at Siburan police station lockup.


He was charged under Section 427 of the Penal Code for all three charges which carries a jail term between 1 year and 5 years or with fine or with both. He pleaded not guilty to all three charges.

Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi set September 29 for pre-trial case management.

He allegedly committed mischief by causing RM150 in damages to the side mirror on a car belonging to a 76-year-old man at a 3rd-mile roundabout at about 11.25 am on Aug 17. After that, he damaged the side mirror of a Nissan Fairlady belonging to a 33-year-old man, causing a loss of around RM500 to the owner, at about 11.42 am.

He was arrested on the same day by police at about 3pm at his house located in Jalan Batu Kawa. He was then brought to Siburan Police Station to assist police in investigations.

At about 6.35pm, he committed mischief at the Siburan police station lock-up by causing damage and loss to the Government of Malaysia in the amount of RM200.—DayakDaily
