MIRI, July 3: Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) top leadership will discuss before deciding if they should help Barisan Nasional (BN) in the upcoming six state elections in Peninsular Malaysia, says Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Women chief, Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah.
“The decision to assist BN (and its member parties) rests with GPS’ top leadership,” she told local media in Miri today.
She added that Sarawak’s political scenario is different from Peninsular Malaysia’s.
“Our struggle is different. GPS has been prioritising Sarawak and its people first.
“I believe further discussions should be held before making any decision on the matter,” she pointed out.
Fatimah was commenting on BN chairman cum Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Patinggi Ahmad Zahid Hamidi hoping that GPS leaders could assist in the upcoming six state elections in Peninsular Malaysia.
Earlier, Fatimah, who is also Minister for Women, Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development Sarawak, attended the closing ceremony of a one-day engagement programme with various women non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in Miri.
