KUCHING, Oct 10: Rain or shine, Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) vice president Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah hopes Sarawakians will perform their duty to vote in the coming 15th General Election (GE15).

In a press statement responding to Prime Minister Datuk Patinggi Ismail Sabri’s announcement of parliamentary dissolution today, Abdul Karim said it had been expected by many quarters because it was tipped to be happening soon after the recent tabling of Budget 2023.

As such, the timing of GE15 will not impact Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) readiness for it.

“I believe all political parties in Peninsular Malaysia including those in Sarawak and Sabah have already prepared their machineries to face the parliamentary election.

“It is something that everyone should be doing because the signs are all there in recent months,” said Abdul Karim who is also Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister.

While there were no surprises over Ismail Sabri’s announcement, it is Abdul Karim’s hope that it will be a smooth and peaceful election despite concerns over the weather, which no one can really predict, especially whether there will be floods in the coming month.

“Many had been speculating about the dissolution of the Parliament and now we have the definite answer.

“Come rain or shine, we hope all of our voters to perform their citizen rights and responsibilities when the polling day comes,” said Abdul Karim. — DayakDaily
