KUCHING, Oct 2: Natural disasters are among the issues always brought up whenever an election is due, says Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
When asked to share his opinion on the possibility of the 15th General Election (GE15) being called during flood season, the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) vice president said that such disaster is among the issues being brought up whenever an election is near.
“Nowadays, in every election, many excuses such as earthquake, flood, and typhoon will be brought up. We are not sure.
“For all you know, the situation might be peaceful. But, you can’t predict there’s going to be a flood,” he said during the flagging-off of Kuching Marathon 2022 held at Padang Merdeka at 1am today.
Meanwhile, while commenting on United Malays National Organisation’s (Umno) suggestion for the GE15 to be held this year, he said there is not much effect on whether it would be held this year or next year.
He as far as Sarawak is concerned, the State government is only waiting for the election to be called or the dissolution of Parliament.
“Speaking of this matter, I believe all political parties, whether in Sabah, Sarawak or Malaya, are ready to face the upcoming election.
“So, whether it is held early or later, there will not be much effect,” he said. — DayakDaily
