PBB election: Miro to lead PBB Youth, Fatimah to retain as PBB Women chief

KUCHING, June 11: Miro Simuh is expected to lead Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth, while Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah is expected to be retained as the Women chief at the party’s upcoming triennial general meeting (TGM) or PBB Convention on June 16 to 19.

This was announced by PBB Election officer Awang Bemee Awang Ali Basah following the submission of nominations from all 82 branches in which all the party’s top posts including Women and Youth chief posts would not be contested.

With that, Miro, who is deputy Youth chief and Serembu assemblyman is expected to take over as the new Youth chief from Dato Gerald Rentap Jabu.

Gerald, who is Layar assemblyman, along with Datuk Julaihi Narawi, Dr Annuar Rapaee, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn, Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, Dato Gerawat Gala as well as Fatimah and Miro have been nominated as vice presidents.

“All of them won uncontested as all branches have nominated them and no other candidates have been nominated.

“By virtue of them (Miro and Fatimah) being the Youth and Women chiefs, (therefore), they will also helm the vice president posts,” Awang Bemee told a press conference at PBB headquarters here today.

He added that the results of the nominations showed the strong mandate and support from the grassroots for the party’s leadership.

Meanwhile, the four-day PBB Convention is expected to see some 2,420 members converge at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) in which PBB president Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg who is also Premier of Sarawak is expected to officiate on June 18.

The Women and Youth Wings are expected to hold their meetings on June 17 while the main committee on June 18 and 19.

PBB deputy president and Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, PBB information chief Datuk Idris Buang and Satok assemblyman Dato Ibrahim Baki were among those present.— DayakDaily
