KUCHING, Feb 11: With the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu’s (PBB) 16th triennial general meeting (TGM) or PBB Convention just days away, secretary-General Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi has assured that all preparations are on track, dismissing any concerns over disciplinary issues or disruptions.
Speaking to reporters, Nanta emphasised that the party’s internal processes, from branch meetings (ranting) to divisional meetings (cawangan), have gone smoothly despite minor issues that have been swiftly resolved.
“This time, there are more candidates than there are available positions, so there’s going to be an election,” he said when met by reporters at the PBB headquarters today.
Addressing concerns about spoiled votes (undi rosak) in past elections, Nanta brushed off the issue, stating he did not recall any significant instances.
He expressed confidence that with the party’s political maturity, voting procedures should be well understood by now.
“There shouldn’t be spoiled votes. We are experienced and should be familiar with the voting process. If there are spoiled votes, it’s likely intentional. Otherwise, genuine mistakes should not happen,” he asserted.
Nanta confirmed that candidates can begin campaigning immediately, with the window open until the afternoon of February 15, when voting will take place at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK). – DayakDaily
