KUCHING, Feb 2: The notorious Pasai Cluster registered 32 more new Covid-19 cases today with the small town of Kapit topping the list of daily infections this time with 19 cases.
Although it is still far too early to say the worst is over, the Pasai Cluster is somewhat seeing a downward trend in new Covid-19 infections with a double-digit increase today compared to 101 cases five days ago.
Since the Pasai Cluster broke out on Dec 29, 2020, the total number of cases linked to it has increased to 2,001 as of today.
As for the rest of the 13 cases linked to the Pasai Cluster today, the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC)’s Covid-19 situation report stated that Dalat recorded five cases, Song (3), two each in Sibu and Bukit Mabong and one in Kanowit.
A total of 22,500 individuals have been screened with 19,853 testing negative but there are still 646 awaiting lab test results.
With a total of 12 active clusters in Sarawak, only the Rakut and Jelita clusters in Miri continued to register new Covid-19 infections today.
Rakut Cluster recorded two new cases today to push its tally to 140 cases. A total of 500 individuals have been screened whereby 340 tested negative while 20 are awaiting lab test results.
Jelita Cluster also recorded two new cases today, thus increasing the cluster’s total to 55 cases. A total of 332 individuals have been screened whereby 255 tested negative and 22 are awaiting lab test results.
The remaining nine clusters namely Bintang Daily in Meradong, Jalan Pengiran in Matu, Tabong in Bau, Bedayan in Serian, Bukit Sekubong in Sebauh, Bah Sayap in Miri as well as Indah Riang, Keranji Tabuan and Stutong in Kuching did not record any cases today.
However, under the new Bintang Daily Cluster which has recorded eight Covid-19 cases so far, there are still 42 individuals awaiting lab test results.
As for Tabong Cluster, which has recorded a total of 22 Covid-19 cases so far, there are still 16 individuals awaiting lab test results; while Indah Riang Cluster with a total of 20 cases, has 25 individuals awaiting lab test results.
As for Bedayan Cluster with 17 cases registered so far, 302 are awaiting lab test results; while Jelita Cluster with 55 cases, has 22 individuals awaiting lab test results.
Meanwhile, Sarawak recorded 121 new Covid-19 cases today with Sibu registering 37 cases, Miri (25), Kapit (21), Dalat (10), Bintulu (9), Bukit Mabong (4), three each in Kuching, Song and Beluru, Serian (2), and one each in Sarikei, Kanowit, Julau and Selangau.
This has raised the state’s tally of positive cases to 4,676. — DayakDaily
