Party hopping renders democracy meaningless, says political veteran

Dato Peter Minos

KUCHING, May 13: Democracy is made meaningless by party hopping, said political veteran Dato Peter Minos.

According to political veteran Dato Peter Minos in a statement today, excessive engagement in party hopping by MPs and assemblypersons would render the political party system, elections, and the people’s choice useless.

He added that some politicians are party hopping for financial motives, including political survival.

“Politicians who support or condone party hopping do so for dubious and devious reasons.

“It is best that a law is created to stop party hopping as it will bring about political stability and shape politics towards better days,” he said.

Minos, who is Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) chairman, said that party hopping is also bad for democracy and political stability. — DayakDaily
