KUCHING, Jan 31: Sarawak for Sarawakians (S4S) is urging Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) to take a look at their Sarawak Manifesto on immigration autonomy.
S4S spokesperson Tan Kok Chiang said S4S, which initiated the manifesto about five months ago, stated that Sarawak could establish its own Olympic state council and bypass the federal government’s decision to ban Israeli athletes from entering the country for the World Para Swimming Championship slated for July this year.
“The situation should be like Hong Kong and Taiwan. They are allowed in the Olympic Games. Shouldn’t autonomy under Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) be like that?” he asked.
He then advised Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah to be tough on Putrajaya.
“The Sarawak Manifesto is not dangerous like Abdul Karim thinks. It will solve and put the state’s rights accordingly. Why does he need to wait for instructions from one person? The sport itself can promote unity and peace.
“It also brings benefit to boost Sarawak’s economy,” reckoned Tan.
He said because of that, GPS had shown it was not capable to speak on behalf of Sarawak and was instead just following the decision of Putrajaya. — DayakDaily
