Para Sukma: Sarawak swimmer Rusdianto bags 3rd gold with another record-breaking performance

KUCHING, Sept 25: Sarawakian swimmer Rusdianto Rusmadi has once again broken a record at the 2024 Para Malaysia Games (Para Sukma), this time in the men’s 200m individual medley SM7/SM8 event, at Pandelela Rinong Aquatic Centre today.

Rusdianto claimed the gold for Sarawak’s swimming team with a record-breaking time of 2:49.02, adding another medal to his tally at the 2024 Para Sukma.

In the same event, Sarawak’s Galang Jabai took the silver medal with a time of 3:43.64, while Kedah’s Muhammad Syafiq Azman claimed the bronze with a time of 3:45.23.

Meanwhile, the 31-year-old para swimmer earned a silver medal in the men’s 50m freestyle S8 event.

Yesterday (Sept 24), Rusdianto broke another Para Sukma record in the men’s 100m backstroke S7/S8 event with a record time of 1:18.68.

On Monday (Sept 23), he secured a gold medal in the men’s 4x100m freestyle relay 34 points event and claimed a silver in the men’s 400m freestyle S8/S9.

Born on June 17, 1993, and hailing from Miri, Rusdianto has dominated the competition so far, showcasing his versatility and strength in the pool with three gold and two silver medals. — DayakDaily
